When the Navy relocated my family from Florida to San Diego, we looked for ways to meet and get involved with our new community. We discovered Rachel at Wylde Horses, and their mission and goals had us captivated. Our son was diagnosed with autism at age two, giving us personal experience with various therapies along the way. Having grown up around horses and previously volunteered at an equine therapy ranch in Charleston, SC, I knew this would be a perfect fit for us.
What started as occasional volunteering quickly turned into multiple days a week. I fell in love with the ranch—the views, the animals, and the community of employees, volunteers, clients and families. Witnessing the weekly progress and accomplishments inspired me to do more. After a year of dedicated volunteering, and to meet their growing needs, I eagerly accepted the role as instructor and am currently in the process of obtaining my PATH Certification. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in International Hospitality Management, a field that allowed me to live and travel around the world. Because of my personal and professional background, I understand that every day and every lesson can look different. I teach with deep compassion and patience to meet each client's unique needs.
You'll find my husband volunteering on the weekends he is in town, and my daughter, a high school senior, spends many weekends and most of her summer volunteering alongside us. My son has yet to overcome his fear of large animals, but he can't be stopped from having a good time, he loves attending all the monthly special events at Wylde Horses. We all absolutely love it here!
